It's been a long time since I updated this blog.  Disney is now 15 years old.  He is doing well.  He had his first Vet appointment in May of this year.  He had his nails and beak trimmed and had an excellent checkup.  He weighs a bit over 500 grams.  I didn't do anything to confim his sex, so I will still refer to him as a male.

We went on vacation, but all of his normal "sitters" were also on vacation, so Disney actually spent a bit over a week at the Vet's.  He did very well.  He had the company of a Macaw, Amazon and another African Grey.  Good to know he was taken care of so well.

My heart goes out to Adele who lost Manzi a few years ago.  I was thinking about Manzi and went to his blogspt and saw the sad news.  I followed Manzi's and Maui's growth for a while.  I used to be on another Parrot forum that Adele was on too.

Disney is almost 11!

It's been a while since I have posted.  I can't believe he will be 11 years old in a few months.  He continues to learn and amuse us.

He has mastered talking to our Alexa - asking for the weather, turning on and off lights and making a shopping list that includes a cat and a loaf of bread.

Disney is 4 years old

Disney turned 4 on July 30th. He is doing very well.  I went back to the Parrot store and bought him a few new toys for his birthday!

We headed out on vacation to Florida on July 31st and left him at our neighbor's house. But after 5 days, they had to go on their vacation so we had someone stop by to feed Disney. He did well. I was most concerned about the 3 days was he was by himself with no one around - except for someone stopping by to feed him.

I brought him back home on Wednesday August 8th.  In the process of putting him back in his travel case to bring back to my house, he had a quick flight around one of the rooms in my neighbor's house.

The picture shows the powder imprint Disney left on a mirror at my neighbor's house after Disney flew into it. You can actually see his left wing on the left side of the picture and also his head/breast bone (right center).

He has adjusted back to his old routine just fine.

Happy Hatchday Disney

Disney turned 3 years old on Saturday July 30th. I went to Parrot & Company in Stamford Connecticut and picked him up a few new toys and some different foods. It's a great place. A lot of parrots hanging out on perches throughout the store.

Disney's Blessing

On Sunday, October 3rd, our church had a blessing of the animals. We brought Disney. He was a bit nervous at first, but then started to look around and do a few chirps.

A First?

This past Sunday, I noticed Disney was spending a lot of time at his water dish. After watching him for a few minutes, it looked like he was trying to take a bath. His feathers were all fluffed up and he was dunking his neck and chest in the water - not getting very wet since the bowl is only about 5 inches in diameter.

I put some water in a large shallow bowl and put it in the bottom of his cage to see if he would continue his bath in that. All he did was stare at it. I took it out after he spilled pellets and other food in it.

I'll try the large bowl again soon!

Today is Disney's second birthday. We are planning on having a little party later today!
